ACA Aircraft Maintenance Hangar
Dulles Airport, Washington DC

• This was a new aircraft maintenance hangar with a 300,000 gallon water storage tank.
• 85,000 sq. ft. - 1 story
• Mixed Occupancy, Offices, Assembly/Conference, Moderate Hazard Storage, Flammable & Combustible Storage and a Paint Shop.
• BOCA National Building Code and NFPA 409 Standard for Aircraft Hangars, Type 2C Construction
• The design called for a AFFF foam suppression system in the hangar bays, and no under wing systems. A diesel fire pump was required for the system.
• Lovett Consultants provided code analysis, exit calculations, fire protection programs, and a plan review. We developed the fire suppression system layout for the sprinklers and reel hoses, hydraulic calculations and suppression specifications.

Lowe's Distribution Center
Statesville, NC

• This was a new regional distribution center for Lowe's.
• 940,000 sq. ft. - 1 story warehouse
• Moderate Hazard Storage with offices
• SBCCI Standard Building Code, Type IV unprotected construction
• The facility is not compartmented by fire walls and has interior mezzanines and travel distances in excess of 400 feet.
• Lovett Consultants provided fire/smoke development calculations, timed egress calculations, fire suppression system activation times. These calculation provided the basis for a code equivalency for the extra travel distance to an exit.
